One of the biggest stories in Hollywood is the Paramount Skydance Corporation agreeing to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. That means numerous changes, and Star Trek fans are obviously curious about the future for the franchise. Alex Kurtzman, who currently oversees the Trek franchise, finally opened up and discussed the situation in a recent interview. Kurtzman said via TrekMovie.com:

“What I can tell you, honestly, is that it’s not just what does Skydance want with Star Trek TV. Skydance also just bought Warner Bros. And so you have an unbelievable amount [laughs] — like, it’s almost inconceivable amount of organizational things to decide, right?"

Kurtzman continued by saying:

By acquiring Warner Bros. Paramount Skydance now owns several top properties like the DC Universe (DCU), which includes James Gunn's Superman, Peacemaker, and the upcoming Lanterns series, among other titles. There’s also The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, as well as the Game of Thrones universe. In short, Paramount Skydance now has a lot more properties to play with, which could affect future Treks.
