It’s a fantastic time to beam aboard the Star Trek bandwagon. The franchise’s latest streaming series, Starfleet Academy, just nailed its season 1 finale, there are three new big-screen Treks in the works, and Strange New Worlds season 4 should drop later this year. And, as far as longtime producer Rod Roddenberry is concerned, things are only going to get better with Paramount Skydance’s bold acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Roddenberry said in an interview via The Direct:
"I'm a big fan of change, maybe not change just for the sake of change, but, dare I say, sometimes disruptive change for the better. I do think with the new regime, things will get better. And not that they were bad, but I think there's a fresh perspective, and in this heightened climate of humanity right now.”
Rod, who is the son of Star Trek’s creator Gene Roddenberry, continued by saying in the same interview:
“I've got a lot of high hopes that they'll understand and recognize that Star Trek has a very important message and story to tell, and that it really needs to be highlighted, emphasized, and put out there. So, I have high hopes that the new regime at Paramount will recognize that and give us something good to watch."
I couldn’t agree more with Roddenberry, and the powers that be at what will become some iteration of Paramount/Skydance/Warner Bros. are already well aware of Star Trek's influence and prestige. In fact, a recent press release, which officially announced the acquisition, listed the beloved science fiction franchise among the “world's most iconic and enduring franchises” right alongside the likes of Lord of the Rings, the DC Universe, Game of Thrones, and Transformers.

Live long and prosper, Trekkies!
