It’s clear Sir Patrick was having a blast with director Jonathan Frakes behind the scenes.
Actress Alison Pill joined the Star Trek family when her character, Dr. Agnes Jurati, teamed up with Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) for the streaming series Picard. And following the news of Sir Stewart’s death on Wednesday, Oct. 8, Pill took to social media and shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes video from the set of Picard, which fans can watch below.
The behind-the-scenes video from Picard shows Stewart reacting to directions from his Next Generation costar and friend Jonathan Frakes, who directed a total of six episodes of the TNG prequel series. In addition to the revealing video, Pill also wrote the following tribute to Stewart via Instagram:
“I feel so incredibly grateful that I got to know this most excellent person. He will be missed. Voices of @jonathansfrakes and @realmichellehurd in the background, @evan.evagora losing his mind laughing in a wig cap. When he wasn’t doing lessons in spaceship physicality, he was reciting Shakespeare and looking for mischief. Love to his family, and all the many people whose lives he touched.”
Pill was an incredible addition to the Picard cast, and Agnes will definitely go down as one of the most memorable Star Trek characters to be introduced during the [Alex] Kurtzman Era.
While Pill didn’t appear in Picard season 3, because the show's swan song shifted its focus to the long-awaited Next Generation reunion, Dr. Jurati enjoyed a memorable character arc throughout season 2 that culminated in Agnes becoming a benevolent Borg Queen in search of peaceful relations with Starfleet.
And despite Agnes' transformation into a Borg Queen, the doctor still maintained her close friendship with Admiral Picard. For more Star Trek content and to remember Sir Patrick Stewart, please visit the Redshirts Always Die Facebook and X pages.
