“The best part was meeting YOU, working with you, and becoming your friend.”

Star Trek family members continue to pay their respects to Sir Patrick Stewart, who died on Wednesday, Oct. 28. So, it’s no surprise that Stewart’s Picard costar and real-life friend Michelle Hurd jumped on social media, too, to honor the late actor’s memory and legacy.

Hurd posted a picture of herself with Stewart (below) in a post on her official Instagram account, which reads as follows: “What to say? How can words describe this feeling? Thank you, Pstew, for being my friend, for being so kind and generous with your heart, for being so funny and vulnerable, and for being so talented and inspiring.”

“Getting cast as Raffi on Star Trek: Picard has been a gift that keeps on giving, but the best part was meeting YOU, working with you, and becoming your friend. I am, and always will be, grateful for this amazing experience and adventure we shared. I love you and will miss you, my dear sweet friend. The world lost a great one today... Rest now, Captain, my captain.🖖🏾💔🙌🏾💔🙏🏾💔🥰❤️”

Before Admiral Jean-Luc Picard reunited with all of The Next Generation’s core characters in season 3 of the streaming series Picard, the legendary Starfleet officer turned to his good friend and colleague Raffaela “Raffi” Musiker for help and support against season 1’s Romulan threat.

I’m so glad to know that Stewart and Hurd’s real-life friendship mirrored their characters’ close bond on Star Trek: Picard. Not only did Raffi become a fan-favorite newcomer, but she even shared a romantic relationship with another Trek legend, Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan).
