“He is in a word: irreplaceable.”

Star Trek actress Whoopi Goldberg continued to celebrate and honor the memory of Sir Patrick Stewart on Monday’s (Nov. 2) episode of The View, in which she is a cohost. And fans of the beloved science fiction franchise can watch a clip Goldberg shared on the morning talk show below, courtesy of the program's official YouTube channel, as she remembers her dear friend and an “irreplaceable” talent.

Goldberg also shared a small bit of footage from a previous episode of The View in 2020, which was from the memorable installment of the talk show that featured Sir Stewart joining his Next Generation costar in order to invite her to appear in the second season of the Star Trek streaming series, Picard.

Not only did Goldberg accept Stewart’s invitation to return as The Next Generation’s fan-favorite character Guinan in a pair of Picard season 2 episodes (“The Star Gazer” and “Farewell”), but Goldberg’s participation also sparked a storyline that featured a younger version of Guinan, who was portrayed by Ito Aghayere.

Goldberg’s tribute video to Stewart on The View follows on the heels of her social media tribute to the late Star Trek actor, which featured a photo of a Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Guinan in action-figure form as their holodeck alter egos Dixon Hill and his cousin Gloria from The Next Generation season 4 episode “Clues.”
