Fans, it’s time to “discover, grow, and boldly go” all over again as JR, Roo, and Sprocket return for more zany Holodeck Rescues in season 2 of Star Trek: Scouts.
The science fiction franchise’s fabulous eight-year-old trio are back but so is a familiar foe in the season opener, who made multiple appearances as the villain during the show’s freshman run. Now, check out the synopsis for Scout’s Holodeck Rescues No. 11 below, courtesy of NickALive!
“JR, Roo, and Spocket are back for more Holodeck Rescues! The Scouts have discovered that Shadowtrix has kidnapped baby aliens and is using mind-control devices on them. She even has the Scouts' own alien sidekicks Zips, Bubbles, and Star! The Scouts will have to use their gadgets, like JR's hover boots and Sprocket's robo-arm, to save the baby aliens!”
For those who have yet to watch the fun and entertaining webseries aimed at young children, Scouts features three characters training to become the best of Star Trek’s next generation, while also encountering a wild array of obstacles, not the least of which is the aforementioned Shadowtrix.
In Holodeck Rescues No. 11, Shadowtrix goes too far yet again, as she absconds with the trio’s beloved pets. The purr-fect villain plans on mind-controlling Bubbles, Star, and Zips, but as usual, she severely underestimates JR, Roo, and Sprocket’s ability to work together as a team in order to overcome any threat.
However, it’s the pets which Shadowtrix underestimates this time around. Thinking she’s gotten the drop on the three Scouts with her mind-control devices, Bubbles, Star, and Zips turn the tables just long enough for JR to snatch the remote control and free all the animals. Shadowtrix is then confined to the brig, but who knows for how long?
I enjoyed the season 2 debut of Scouts, and I appreciate that the webseries brought back the adorable rock-eating Horta, which appeared in two season 1 installments. Plus, Holodeck Rescues further stoked the nostalgia flames by featuring yet another Tribble in the show's latest installment.
The fun, entertaining vibe continues in season 2. I can also see how Trekkies and Trekkers alike will also get a kick out of the animated adventures, (none of which have been over four minutes long yet), even though Scouts is focused on drawing in young kids as its primary audience.
If you haven’t introduced your kids to the Scouts yet, I imagine many will be drawn to the blue-haired Vulcan named Sprocket, who also sports a cool bionic arm. Did you watch Holodeck Rescues No. 11?
