Star Trek Section 31 movie gets premiere date in 2025

In Star Trek: Discovery, Phillipa Georgiou had to leave Michael Burnham and the rest of the Discovery crew behind when her body began rejecting the time jump to the 32nd century. Yeoh's character was written out in season three of Star Trek: Discovery, and she was supposed to star in a series based around her character and Section 31. That changed, though, and Paramount+ decided to go with a streaming channel movie instead which began filming in January 2024. And now, the release date for the movie has finally been announced!

According to Deadline, Section 31 will air on Paramount+ on January 24, 2025 both in the US and international markets where available. Since there are not usually any set times for a streaming channel drop, most likely the movie will be available after midnight on the 24th.

While many fans are looking forward to seeing the gray side of Starfleet in a longer form, there are plenty of others who are skeptical about an entire movie about the agency which was supposed to be a secret. On top of that, the teaser trailer eschewed the route of orchestral music and the thumping beat didn't endear fans.

But there are still plenty of Georgiou fans who are looking forward to seeing the return of the quick-witted, deadly former ruler of the Terran Empire. Though a killer, Georgiou became a fan favorite when the character was brought aboard Discovery. The teaser shows us the formation of her past so likely we'll get to see how she became such a feared leader in the Empire. And while that teaser wasn't exactly what all Star Trek fans wanted, Emperor Georgiou is. Hopefully, her presence will be enough for fans to tune into the premiere on January 24th.
