“Our dynamic in real life is a bit like..."

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns this summer, and the crew of the USS Enterprise goes on new adventures which include a horror episode, an encounter with dinosaurs, and even Muppets. However, even with everything different promised in season 4, one thing is steady as she goes: James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock’s evolving friendship. And Paul Wesley admits it is “one of the most important relationships in the series.”

Wesley also commented on his and Spock actor Ethan Peck’s real-life relationship while appearing in Mexico City to promote Strange New Worlds season 4 at this year’s Comic Con Experience (CCXP). Wesley said via TrekMovie.com:

“Me and Ethan, it’s pretty great, because our dynamic in real life is a bit like Kirk and Spock, and so it makes it a lot easier as we have gotten to know each other better and become more closer friends. It helps, obviously, with working on set."

Wesley, who has played James T. Kirk on a recurring basis since the SNW series 1 finale, continued by saying during the same sit-down:

"But it’s one of the most important relationships in the series. It’s the sort of the logic versus instinct. I think we’re doing a good job paying homage to why people love this relationship so much. I’m pretty proud of what we’ve done.”

Kirk and Spock’s relationship will always be a focal point of any Star Trek project that features the two iconic characters, thanks to the unique rapport built between the Starfleet captain and his Vulcan science officer during The Original Series by William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.

Yes, the bromance of Kirk and Spock boldly goes and takes center stage once again. Are you as excited as I am for more Spirk in Strange New Worlds season 4? Share your thoughts and comments with us on the Redshirts Always Die Facebook and X pages.
