Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has landed, and the streaming show's characters are intricate and likeable. You want to root for them, even if they are presented as a bit of a foil – more on that later. In just a few episodes, each main cadet has been provided a storyline that makes them relatable. The character-building potential is endless here. I, for one, cannot wait to see where this goes. So, with that in mind, let's rank the 10 most promising characters which begins with our beloved EMH.

10. The Doctor

Everyone’s favorite photonic, who thus far still does not have a name, has returned to live action. The Doctor is a relic from Star Trek: Voyager, who also returned as a major player in the must-see Star Trek: Prodigy. His inclusion in this series is a great way to bridge the gap between old and new Star Trek, given his relative immortality.

Thus far, it does not appear that The Doctor’s base personality has changed much. He is still the opera-loving, sassy doctor we know and love. However, there is a lot of potential for character development here. What has The Doctor been up to for the last 800 years? How close to human has he truly become?

Given that this series will focus more heavily on the kids, it is unclear how deeply we will dive into The Doctor’s past, but he seems ripe for his own episode or two.
