Conclusion

Respectively, Stephen Miller should stick to homeland security and let more qualified people like producer Alex Kurtzman run Star Trek. There is nothing wrong with Starfleet Academy the way it is. The new streaming series leans heavily into creator Gene Roddenberry’s philosophy of total inclusion, which is simply carrying on his legacy and philosophy. Today’s Trek isn’t going to look exactly like The Original Series from nearly 60 years ago, nor should it, because of progress.
As William Shatner’s beloved Star Trek captain once said: “If change is inevitable, predictable, beneficial, doesn’t logic demand that you be a part of it?” Progress is — pardon the pun — paramount, whether it includes Shatner or not moving forward, to say nothing of him having “total creative control.”
Starfleet Academy is progress. If the new series isn't your cup of Earl Grey tea, like Captain Picard enjoys, don't watch it. There are hundreds of hours of Star Trek available to stream at the touch of a button. The franchise doesn't need to be saved, but I'd sure like to see Shatner return as James T. Kirk.
