Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is finally here! The first two episodes of the much-anticipated show, which features the first cadets to enter the academy's San Francisco campus in 120 years, are now available on Paramount+.
Etalk caught up with one of the show's stars, Sandro Rosta, who plays Caleb Mir, a rebellious young man who joins Starfleet to find his mother. When asked about playing the lead in a Star Trek show, Rosta said:
"Uh, it's hard to describe how it feels. It feels scary, but it feels incredible at the same time. Um, I get butterflies every time I think about it, and I think that's a good thing. It's amazing to be involved with something with such a great cast and a great team behind it. Yeah, I mean, however you think it must feel, that's probably how it feels. It feels pretty good."
Before signing up for Starfleet Academy, this young actor was still in acting school. His IMDb page notes only one other credit, a short called Snitches Get Stitches, which certainly explains why it seems difficult for Rosta to put his Starfleet Academy role into words.
Imagine going from an unknown to starring in a Trek show alongside Oscar winner Holly Hunter and Golden Globe winner Paul Giamatti. It's enough to make any actor's head spin!
