Starfleet Academy's 'Ko'Zeine' is way better than its low rating (and this is why)

SFA episode 7 fell flat with many viewers, but it deserves far better than its low rating.

5. Caleb's message to Tarima

Despite Starfleet Academy episode 7's low rating, this is a scene I watched a few times because of Sandro Rosta's portrayal of Caleb Mir.

Caleb is recording a message for Tarima Sadal, who continues to recover on Betazed due to her experience against the Furies in the previous episode. Caleb talks with a bit of hesitation and tells her about the memorial services for the fallen and how everyone is trying to move on.

Most people are celebrating All-Worlds Day, a holiday focused on visiting family and togetherness. During Caleb's recording, though, the cadet flashes back to the intimate times he and Tarima spent together, as well as her telepathic injury against the Furies.

Ultimately, Caleb deletes the message. It's a poignant moment that communicates his ongoing grief and his uncertainty over how he feels for Tarima.
