Starfleet Academy's 'Vox in Excelso' is way better than its low rating (and this is why)

SFA's fourth episode is a complex tale of identity and tradition.

5. Jay-Den learns of the Klingon ship crashing

When Nahla Ake and Lura Thok summon Jay-Den to a private meeting, the young Klingon learns that a ship carrying Klingons from the remaining eight houses suffered a mechanical failure and crashed. While Jay-Den's parents abandoned him as a youth, it's assumed they were on board.

Watching Jay-Den's expression at the news may cause you to take a second glance at Karim Diane's talent. He shows no emotion, as befits a Klingon. The reaction is all in his eyes as his memories sweep him back to the past.

The memories flood Jay-Den. And although he tells Chancellor Ake and Cadet Master Thok that he bid farewell to his family long ago, Jay-Den's expression once he leaves them tells viewers a different story.
