“Scotty really screwed the pooch on this one!”
Most Star Trek fans marked this episode on their calendars once it was officially announced that Strange New Worlds’ fifth installment, “Level-Five Transporter Accident,” would feature the highly anticipated puppets. The "Muppets" were created in real life by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, but it seems Scotty (Martin Quinn) is to blame on SNW, at least in Pelia's (Carol Kane) eyes.
In the new clip (below), courtesy of Collider, Commander Pelia hilariously throws Mr. Scott under the bus — well, starship in this case — and places the blame squarely on the miracle worker’s shoulders. “Scotty really screwed the pooch on this one,” Pelia points out, as Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) tries to find answers from his puppet crew.
What I love about this clip from Strange New Worlds’ “Level-Five Transporter Accident,” in addition to Pelia’s side-splitting reaction to Scotty’s apparent blunder, is that even more of the SNW characters’ puppets were revealed in the preview footage.
While other sneak-peek Strange New Worlds videos and photos already revealed Pike, Una-Chin Riley (Rebecca Romijn), Lt. Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia), La’an Noonien Singh (Christina Chong), Dr. M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun), and T’Pring’s (Gia Sandhu) puppets, fans got their first look at the Ensign Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Pelia, Scotty, and Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush) “Muppets” in the new clip.
I can see why some Strange New Worlds’ cast members pointed to Pelia as their personal favorite puppet. I also died laughing when all of the Enterprise’s “Muppets” turned and stared at poor Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck), who has to not only help figure out how to fix the transporter error and run the ship, but he must also thwart the Orion Pirates who’ve boarded the vessel.
