“An off-duty window becomes a warp emergency when the Enterprise is pushed beyond its safe limits.”

The lighthearted “Muppet” madness is over. Yes, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds appears to shift away from genre jumping and back into pure science fiction following season 4’s puppet episode “Level-Five Transporter Accident.”

In the brand-new teaser trailer for the upcoming sixth episode of Strange New Worlds, “Off-Hour,” the crew of the USS Enterprise encounters a deadly wormhole, and fans can check out the footage below, courtesy of Paramount+ Mexico’s YouTube channel.

The synopsis/logline for Strange New Worlds season 4’s sixth episode, “Off-Hour,” reads as follows (per IMDb): “An off-duty window becomes a warp emergency when the Enterprise is pushed beyond its safe limits.”

After watching the new Strange New Worlds teaser footage, my first thought was how much this scenario reminded me of the wormhole the refit Enterprise encountered in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979), only drawn out to fill an entire episode.

I did notice that Strange New Worlds’ newest Vulcan, A’Sha (Bianca Nugara), makes her third appearance of season 4, as the Jessica Alba lookalike can be seen standing next to Scotty (Martin Quinn) in the very first scene of the “Off-Hour” teaser.

As much as I enjoyed the Strange New Worlds puppet episode, the stakes are considerably higher in “Off-Hour,” unless this all turns out to be a dream again, like the one Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck) had, in order to account for why everyone on the Enterprise transformed into “Muppets.”

La’an Noonien Singh (Christina Chong) can be heard saying that the crew only has 12 minutes left to live, while Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) is thrown across the bridge as the result of an explosion!

As far as I’m concerned, the “Off-Hour” teaser did its job, and I’m — dare I say — energized to see the next episode of Strange New Worlds.
