Find out where the season's first episode ranks on streaming charts after its debut.
Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the USS Enterprise have officially embarked on their latest set of missions in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4. Unfortunately, though, the season premiere, “Valles Marineris,” didn’t perform that strongly, in terms of its current streaming chart rankings. For instance, if you log into Paramount+ right now (morning of Friday, July 24), SNW just squeaked into the “Top 10 Shows Now” section at No. 10.
According to FlixPatrol, Strange New Worlds season 4 debuted at No. 8 on the Top TV Shows on Paramount+ worldwide chart. However, the SNW premiere did perform better domestically, ranking No. 3 on the Paramount+ Top 10 in the United States. Sadly, it didn’t rank at all on the Top 10 Overall from Amazon Channels, but I certainly feel viewers will find the show soon.
Overall, while not here at home, Strange New Worlds season 4’s premiere did rank as the top show in several countries around the world, including Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Now, I want to go on record saying how much I enjoyed the time-traveling “Valles Marineris” episode.
Strange New Worlds season 4 even scored strongly with critics, debuting with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. However, I want to put SNW’s initial subpar streaming rank into perspective by comparing it to how the much-maligned Starfleet Academy performed out of the gates.
Strange New Worlds (No. 8) only ranked one slot higher than Starfleet Academy (No. 9) did when it debuted on the worldwide stage back in January. However, SFA found success in the coming weeks — ranking as high as No. 1 — on the aforementioned Top 10 Overall from Amazon Channels chart.
I love both Star Trek series, and I truly believe Strange New Worlds' ranking will improve dramatically between weeks 1 and 2 on the streaming charts. And the next episode, “The Griffin Incident” is the highly anticipated horror episode science fiction and genre fans are so looking forward to — and I couldn't be more stoked about.
