Star Trek: SNW season 4's synopsis may disappoint fans

The synopsis is definitely a teaser.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds engages it warp engine and returns to Paramount+ with season 4 this summer. However, some fans are obviously going to grumble about what little information was revealed about the show’s latest go-round in a pretty pedestrian synopsis.

Check out what little Paramount Skydance and CBS Studios are saying about SNW’s upcoming adventures via the following press release: “The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise - led by Captain Christopher Pike - embark on a series of thrilling and emotional adventures across the stars."

The press release continues as follows:

"As they journey to strange new worlds, they will battle inner demons and external threats, encounter colorful new characters, reunite with familiar faces and confront terrifying aliens. Through it all, they strive to embrace a bright, hopeful future.”

Personally, I’m not surprised that so little information was given up by Paramount, given that the synopsis dropped along with the 66-second teaser trailer at this year’s Comic Con Experience (CCXP). I am encouraged, though, by the mention of “familiar faces,” and immediately actress Melanie Scrofano comes to mind.

I certainly hope we haven’t seen the last of Captain Pike’s love interest, Marie Batel (Scrofano), especially considering all she went through in season 3.

From the mixture of human and Gorn DNA surging through Marie's body, to that statuesque last stand as the Beholder, hopefully, her time on Strange New Worlds isn't truly done.

I still can't forget Marie and Pike's tour de force time jaunt through that wonderful life in the season 3 finale, "New Life and New Civilizations." And that episode gives me hope they'll see one another again before the captain's ill-fated appointment with destiny — even if they never get to live that "happy ending" together.
