Star Trek icon makes the news twice in 24 hours (but for the most ridiculous reasons)

Everyone knows the type of news TMZ typically delivers, so I won’t bore you with my opinion of their organization. However, I did notice one of their headlines today, which features Star Trek’s iconic actor, William Shatner, munching on a bowl of cereal — in Los Angeles traffic! Check out the photo below, courtesy of TMZ’s X account, which shows Shatner behind the wheel of his vehicle while enjoying what appears to be a large serving of either corn or bran flakes.

Shatner is noted as being at a "stop light" while having the most important meal of the day. Plus, even if he wasn't waiting at a traffic light, anyone who lives in the City of Angels knows that traffic is an absolute nightmare, which constantly transforms LA's most arduous arteries into some of the world's largest public parking lots.

Shatner’s vehicle is clearly not in motion, and he is undoubtedly multitasking in a manner that is not putting anyone in harm's way during his commute.

Okay, if Shatner had turned his commute on the 405, or whatever LA interstate or highway he was on (TMZ didn’t specify because they’re TMZ), into a game of bumper cars, yes, this would have been breaking-news material. Remember the ole journalism cliche: "If it bleeds, it leads."

Now, give the former captain of the USS Enterprise credit. The iconic actor knows how to trend online and for the most ridiculous reasons because this marks the second time in just over 24 hours that the Star Trek actor has made the news but under the weirdest headlines.

The first was Shatner's almost mawkish response to Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller’s ridiculous social media post claiming the Star Trek franchise needs saving — and declaring that Shatner is the one who should be given “total creative control” over the intellectual science fiction property.

Live long and prosper, Trekkies.
