Fans who can’t make it to The Big Apple can still watch the panel online.
James T. Kirk himself, William Shatner, and several cast members from Starfleet Academy season 2 are descending on The Big Apple this weekend to participate in the Star Trek Universe panel, which is being held at New York Comic Con 2026. However, for those fans who can’t make the trip, Trek’s official YouTube channel (below) will stream the event live over the coming weekend.
The Star Trek panel will begin with Shatner and a special NYCC celebration of the franchise’s 60th anniversary, and the legendary Captain Kirk actor will be joined on stage by guest moderator Ben Stiller, who is a massive fan of Trek himself.
The second portion of NYCC’s Star Trek Universe panel is dedicated to Starfleet Academy season 2, which will include the controversial series’ showrunners, Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau.
Additionally, SFA actors Holly Hunter (Nahla Ake), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Sandro Rosta (Caleb Mir), Bella Shepard (Genesis Lythe), and Karim Diane, who portrays Klingon cadet Jay-Den Kraag, will also be in attendance.
Personally, I’m most excited to finally catch a glimpse of Starfleet Academy season 2. However, since the show won’t continue for a third season and all the footage for sophomore year was in the can before SFA was canceled, I’m curious if Kurtzman and Landau will announce that they've now shot additional scenes to close out what was originally intended to be a cliffhanger ending in 2027.
New York Comic Con’s Star Trek Universe panel starts Saturday, Oct. 10, at 3:15 p.m. ET on the Empire Stage, and it is scheduled to last for one hour. Those who can’t attend will be able to stream the event live by clicking this link to the franchise’s official YouTube page, which is already set up online.
