Star Trek doesn't need saving, Mr. Miller

For those who haven’t been following the story, the Homeland Security Advisor, Stephen Miller, reposted a video (below) from the series debut of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, in which he critiqued the new streaming show with the following text: “Tragic. But it’s not too late for @paramountplus to save the franchise. Step 1: Reconcile with @WilliamShatner and give him total creative control.”

Fortunately, even with Shatner’s status as a Star Trek icon, and the Homeland Security Advisor’s impressive political credentials, the beloved science fiction franchise remains in the hands of producer Alex Kurtzman, which is where it belongs.
I understand there are Trekkies out there who are not satisfied with how Kurtzman has run creator Gene Roddenberry’s intellectual property lately. However, putting Shatner in charge of the Star Trek franchise would be like handing over the USS Enterprise’s conn to Harry Mudd — nothing good would come of it.
Again, I love William Shatner’s portrayal of Captain Kirk, but he’s already shown the fandom what happens when he is “in control.” I simply can’t forget Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, which Shatner directed, and it’s NOT because the film is memorable.

Live long and prosper, Trekkies.
