Death claims all of us eventually, even the man who played Death -- better known as William Bludworth -- in the Final Destination horror film franchise. That man, of course, was the genre legend Tony Todd, a prolific character actor beloved by fright fans and science-fiction aficionados for his roles as Death/Bludworth in the Final Destination films, The Candyman in the Candyman films, and multiple roles in the Star Trek universe, including Kurn, Worf’s brother in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Fortunately, before his death on November 6, 2024, at the age of 69, Todd completed several upcoming projects, including Final Destination Bloodlines, which will be released in theaters by Warner Bros. on May 16. Fans of the franchise weren’t sure if Todd actually worked on the project, so his appearance was deemed “rumored” by many fans and also the Internet Movie Database. The official trailer, synopsis, and cast list, revealed on March 25, confirmed Todd’s involvement.

The synopsis and cast list read as follows: “Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all. Final Destination Bloodlines stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, with Brec Bassinger, and Tony Todd.”

For those who appreciate Star Trek connections, Teo Briones is the brother of Isa Briones and the son of Jon Jon Briones. Isa played the characters Soji Asha, Dahj Asha, Sutra, and Lore Soong on Star Trek: Picard, while Jon Jon guest starred in two episodes of the same show as the Confederation Magistrate, who is married to Annika Hansen (Jeri Ryan).

As for Todd, his Trek bloodlines ran deep. In addition to recurring on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine as Kurn, he played the character in Star Trek Online and in the Next Generation video game Klingon Honor Guard. His other Trek appearances included the game Elite Force II (for which he voiced a character named Korban); the acclaimed Deep Space Nine episode “The Visitor,” in which he played the elderly version of Jake Sisko; and the Star Trek: Voyager episode “Prey,” which cast him as an Alpha-Hirogen.
