Michelle Yeoh rumored to be cast in Star Trek: Discovery

Michelle Yeoh, best known for her role in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, is rumored to have been cast in Star Trek: Discovery.

Star Trek: Discovery has had a bleak few months. The news coming out of CBS has been anything but good from a delay in production to Bryan Fuller leaving the showrunner position. CBS hasn’t helped things by making an epic series of bumbling mistakes when it comes to the Star Trek franchise. From R rated Star Trek to claiming that Star Trek wouldn’t work on TV CBS just can’t seem to get out of its own way.

The logical thing to do would be to get some good news about the series out to try to bring back some of the fan excitement, and this might finally be the start. According to ComingSoon.net Star Trek great Nicholas Meyer has said that Michelle Yeoh is in the series. ComingSoon.net goes on to say that they believe that Yeoh has been cast as the series lead.

If confirmed it would be big news, as we would finally know who the Lieutenant Commander of Star Trek: Discovery is. Once again though you can’t help but think this is a big of a blunder, the news coming out through Meyer instead of through an official release.

Honestly I don’t know much of Michelle Yeoh yet, but I’m happy for an excuse to rewatch Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Yeoh also has a big role in the Netflix series Marco Polo. Yeoh certianly has a wealth of experience in film and television and would bring a lot of confidence to a big role in the new series.
