Jean-Luc Picard series gets fan trailer treatment

A fan has created a fantastic trailer for the upcoming yet untitled Jean-Luc Picard series due for release in late 2019.

A youtuber named Arrakna has put together both a poster and a couple of trailers for what he’s calling “Picard – Star Trek: The Final Generation The trailer is pieced  together from footage from several sources including Logan, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and the Kelvin timeline, it’s expertly blended and cut together for a pretty nice viewing experience, check it out:

While we don’t yet know exactly what the Jean-Luc Picard series will be about we certainly have spent some time speculating on what the story may be ourselves, Arrakna takes a slightly different approach while maintaining a somewhat similar tone. In this trailer an aging and ill Captain Picard who seems to be suffering from or recovering from a personal trauma, or perhaps neurological problem, is called back into action by a distant voice,  (Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Admiral Norah Satie providing the voice) to battle the federations greatest threat.

While the threat takes several external forms and follows with a montage of action from several Star Trek movies the characters shown, as well as Picard’s reactions suggest this threat may in fact be the Borg. Certainly a strong reason to recall even a dying Captain Picard as he has thwarted the Borg more then anyone in Starfleet, with the exception of Admiral Janeway.

One thing is for sure, even if it’s not a real trailer it does a really good job of building the excitement for what’s to come…

No real trailer, storylines, plot points or release dates for this upcoming series are currently known other then the targeted release time of late 2019, we should expect a trailer to follow Season two of Star Trek: Discovery which had it’s own trailer arrive earlier this week, and will arrive on CBS All Access January 17, 2019.

And let’s not forget the Star Trek will keep coming as we hope to see more about the upcoming half hour animated comedy series Star Trek: Lower Decks from Rick and Morty’s Mike McMahan which is also expected on CBS All Access sometime in 2019.

It certainly is a great time to be a Star Trek fan.

What do you think of the trailer, the upcoming slate of shows, the return of Patrick Stewart?
