James McAvoy as Jean-Luc Picard
Last Appearance X-Men Apocalypse (2017)
Although this list otherwise exclusively features Star Trek alumni there’s no rule saying the top actors who could appear have to have appeared in the franchise before, and the most likely actor who’s never been a part of the franchise to date is A-List actor James McAvoy who’s quietly trying to amass a second career playing young Patrick Stewart.
There was a hilarious twitter reply by McAvoy when Star Trek Picard was first announced in which he offered to once again play a younger version of Patrick Stewart as he has been in the X-Men Franchise since 2011’s X-Men First Class. Although his offer to play the role of Flashback Guy for autographs was more than a little tongue in cheek his interest in joining the series in some capacity appears to be an honest one.
As we are looking at a more retrospective look at Jean-Luc Picard it seems likely that they may want to once again look back at his earlier years, and although movie magic anti-aging technology has come a long way in the past few years and has produced incredible results in many recent movies it would certainly be far more cost effective to simply hire the man who fans already accept as young Patrick Stewart, making James McAvoy a likely candidate to appear in Star Trek Picard.
