The Orville is returning soon and they just released their first look at the new season.

The Orville is returning on March 10, 2022, exclusively on Hulu. The new series will feature a shorter schedule for their season but each episode will be substantially longer, thus giving them more time to tell stories and not sacrificing the amount of content for fans to enjoy.

The new season is a bit of a mystery but offers up a host of new possibilities. For starters, the season is being dubbed, “New Horizons”, possibly alluding to a soft reboot of sorts with new main characters. The show will bring in new series regulars in the form of Anne Winters (Ensign Charly Burke), Bruce Boxleitner (President Alcuzan), and Lisa Banes (Senator Balask). All three of whom are in the first official look at The Orville: New Horizons.

The Orville’s new season has a lot going on in it

The rest of the cast is back, with Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, Penny Johnson Jerald, Peter Macon, J. Lee, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, and Jessica Szohr all back for the show. Norm Macdonald, who died unexpectedly in 2021 had already recorded his lines for the new season and will appear as well. Though, he isn’t the only cast member who passed away in 2021, as Banes also passed away in 2021.

While the cast lost a few members, there are other names still expected to appear this year, namely Eliza Taylor of the CW’s The 100. She’s part of the new cast members arriving on the show this season.

The show is also in a bit of an odd space, as it hasn’t been renewed yet for a fourth season but it also hasn’t been canceled either. A lot of what happens beyond this season will be determined by how many people show up to watch the series.
