Who is the captain of the Enterprise-F during the events of Star Trek: Picard?

Who is commanding the USS Enterprise-F during Star Trek: Picard?
Star Trek: Picard has brought back just about everyone from The Next Generation in some sort of cameo role, save for Denise Crosby’s Natasha Yar, who was killed off once in Season 1 and again in Season 3. Though she didn’t return as her character, Crosby’s Yar was still used in a minor cameo role alongside Data and Lore near the end of the season. Yet, despite everyone seemingly coming back at some point during the season, the one character that hasn’t really been seen is the newest Enterprise, the ship that is the flag-bearer of the fleet.
While the ship is new, the name goes back to the beginning of the series in the 1960s, and every show has had a version of the Enterprise to call its own.
The Enterprise-F is the third of the Enterprise vessels to be in existence during the Next Generation crew’s time galavanting around the stars. Their first one, the Enterprise-D debuted during Encounter at Farpoint and was destroyed in Star Trek Generations. It was destroyed due to it being a difficult ship to film during film production, and the crew needed a new ship that would look better with the film parameters given.
Its replacement was the Enterprise-E and while not the Enterprise-E still has its supporters. Yet between the end of Nemesis and the third season of Picar, it was mothballed. So it’s not surprising that people are wondering more and more about its successor, the Enterprise-F.
Who’s the captain of the USS Enterprise-F in Star Trek: Picard?
Right now there’s no saying who the captain of the Enterprise-F is. There might be a throw-away line in one of the last two episodes, or there may be some promotion at the end of the show, where someone from within the show gets elevated to the seat, but right now there is no saying who the captain is or could be.
It’s very likely we don’t see the Enterprise-F at all, but knowing Terry Matala’s penchant to rely on nostalgia, the odds we don’t see the Enterprise-F and its captain at some point in the series finale seems rather small. While it isn’t officially a part of the Next Generation crew’s time, the Enterprise-F is no different than the next generation of characters that Picard has already introduced.
Like with the Burton daughters and Picard’s son, we deserve to see the next Enterprise in its glory. Not including it would be a mistake, considering all the other moves that Matalas has already made.
