Star Trek writers have officially joined the picket line during the writer’s strike.

Star Trek has seen a huge increase across the fandom over the last few months. Strange New Worlds, Prodigy, and Picard all raised the interest in the brand 20-fold compared to past shows and seasons. Star Trek is riding high and with a much-desired spinoff for Picard being talked about, Star Trek: Legacy, and a new show that was in the works, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, things were looking up for the brand.

Until the writer’s strike happened. Now, we’re in favor of the writers protecting themselves long-term, while also getting their fair share of revenue. That doesn’t mean that the strike won’t possibly hurt the growth of the franchise eventually.

Well, it looks like after not being captured during the strike, the Star Trek writing family has in fact banded together and made their feelings known as the strike continues. And more eagle-eyed viewers can see Picard showrunner Terry Matalas in the crowd, supporting the crew that helped make Picard what it was.

There appears to be no end in sight

Some fans may be better at naming who is involved in the photo but it does look like it’s not just some writers and showrunner, some actors and other behind the scene crew members are also involved.

Seeing how many Star Trek personalities are involved with the strike and the fact that no one has really heard one way or another about any potential new deals being worked out, it seems fair to say that this strike is ongoing and doesn’t intend on stopping anytime soon.

That will likely see a long-layoff between Trek properties eventually, as Discovery’s final season is the last thing we know for sure has a set release time frame after Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks’ next seasons.

Things may be canceled, shuffled, or delayed as of this moment and maybe even worse depending on how things play out. Studios need to come to the table sooner rather than later to end this work stoppage if they don’t want ot anger fandoms.
