One of Star Trek’s most beloved guest stars is back in action, starring in an upcoming big-screen mystery. Joan Collins, who will turn 93 years old next May, heads up the cast of A Murder Between Friends. The film features her as an iconic television detective who must solve a real murder after someone turns up dead at her castle. Check out the trailer (below) for the whodunnit, which will be available Jan. 19, 2026, on Amazon Prime.

Collins will forever be remembered by Star Trek fans for her performance as Edith Keeler in the best episode of The Original Series, “The City on the Edge of Forever.” The well-meaning pacifist's demise—necessary for World War II to play out the way it did—broke the hearts of Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy, and it still breaks the hearts of viewers nearly 60 years later. Collins was just 33 years old when she appeared in the episode, which aired during the show’s first season in 1967.

As for A Murder Between Friends, the trailer suggests that moviegoers are in for a cross between Murder, She Wrote and an Agatha Christie mystery. The film is directed by Trent Garrett and Jacob Young, the latter of whom also co-stars alongside Collins. If his name sounds familiar, Young is a soap-opera star and Daytime Emmy Award winner (Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series) for his work on General Hospital.

Collins, of course, is most famous for her long-running role as Alexis, the ex-wife of John Forsythe's character, Blake Carrington, on the primetime soap opera, Dynasty.

In addition to A Murder Between Friends, Collins has completed production on The Bitter End, a film that stars the actress as the Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson. Directed by Mike Newell, the drama focuses on the American woman whose relationship with King Edward VIII led to his scandalous abdication. No release date has been announced yet.
