“Your little boy is going to die just like you, at the end of a blade..."
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4’s horror episode is now streaming. And it certainly didn’t disappoint, especially for those fans of James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley), Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck), and La’an Noonien Singh (Christina Chong), who explore the lost starship (USS Griffin) adrift in space. However, fans aren’t the only ones who are enjoying the ghastly ghost story.
In fact, Chong joked in an interview (per TrekMovie.com) about just how much she “enjoyed stabbing Paul [Wesley],” during the making of the episode. Chong laughed, and Wesley, who was also present, replied during the same sit-down, “Thanks, Chrissy.”

The entire Strange New Worlds episode, which is titled “The Griffin Incident,” is an eerie ghost story vehicle that brings Kirk, Spock, and La’an face to face with their greatest fears.
However, the stabbing incident revolves solely around the future captain of the USS Enterprise and the descendant of Khan Nooinen Singh, whose iconic name is actually dropped during the episode.
Kirk is preoccupied with being absent in the life of his young child, David Marcus, while La’an is still worried that her Augment genes are bubbling to the surface.
Once onboard the USS Griffin, both are haunted by these issues, which manifest in La’an attacking and stabbing Jim with a knife and then taunting him about the fate of his son once he grows up.
In a clear callback to David’s death in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), La’an coldly says, as Kirk lies confused and frightened on the floor, “Your little boy is going to die just like you, at the end of a blade, bleeding out in a dark corner of space.”
For those who are new to the Star Trek fandom and haven’t seen The Search for Spock, David bravely steps in and sacrifices his life to save Lt. Saavik and teenage Spock on the Genesis planet. Kirk’s son is indeed killed “at the end of a blade,” as a Klingon warrior stabs him with a d’k tahg.
The stabbing scene in Strange New Worlds is also chilling, but, of course, the Enterprise arrives and immediately beams the boarding party off the spooky vessel, which is haunting and manipulating their minds. Everyone recovers physically, but the emotional toll remains.
However, despite the seriousness of the must-see horror episode, I couldn’t help but laugh once I read how much fun Chong had filming her character’s attack against Kirk.
