Paul Wesley’s James T. Kirk finally returns to join the crew of the USS Enterprise on a rather daunting mission in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4’s eighth episode “Orders of Magnitude.” Trek’s official Instagram account posted 20 brand-new photos ahead of the next installment’s release, which fans can look over below, but Wesley only appears in three of the images.

Kirk can clearly be seen with his brother Sam (Dan Jeannotte) in one of the Strange New Worlds images from season 4 episode 8, and the synopsis for SNW’s “Orders of Magnitude” reads as follows, courtesy of IMDb: “Starfleet commandeers the Enterprise for an alien pursuit that grows far beyond its original orders.”
The other two photos of Wesley’s Kirk from "Orders of Magnitude" reveal him standing on the bridge of the Enterprise during a red alert, and I can’t tell you how excited I am that the future captain of the Federation’s flagship is finally back on Strange New Worlds.
Wesley has only appeared in a pair of episodes during Strange New Worlds season 4, and the last time fans saw Kirk, his friendship with Mr. Spock (Ethan Peck) was flourishing after the latter shared so many personal details about himself during The Hangover installment, “Human Best Friend.”
I understand the Enterprise is in the middle of a crisis during “Orders of Magnitude,” but I hope Kirk and Spock still have plenty of opportunities to interact, particularly on a personal level throughout the course of the next episode.
Also, for anyone living in the Los Angeles area, who is looking for another way to celebrate Star Trek’s 60th anniversary, the Autry Museum of the American West is going to screen Strange New Worlds season 4 episode 8, "Orders of Magnitude," early and absolutely free on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
